The Bible says in John 5:24 that "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
Many people feel like we, as Christians are nothing more than sales representatives trying to get them to buy our style of life or church so that we can get our commission. For this reason, it is very important that we love people no matter what they decide about our stories and us. People long for genuine love and your heart for them speaks much louder than your words. However, we do want to share with them the good news of Jesus. Sometimes we get nervous and do not quite know how to share what Christ has done for them. Here are a few tools that you can memorize and then use when God brings them to your memory.
Do vs: Done
Religion is spelled DO. At the end of the day religion asks us if we have done enough right things to earn God’s favor. Have we gone to temple, have we given alms to the poor, have we read a holy book or been good? Have we done our prayers? Religion is about what we do to gain Gods favor.
Christianity is spelled out DONE. Everything has been done for us when Christ gave His life on the cross for us. We don’t have to work our selves to God; we just have to accept what Christ has done for us.
Writing out the word DO while talking about religion and then drawing the word DONE while talking about Christianity is a visual way to also help them understand the concept. This is an especially good way to share the gospel with Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims who are very familiar with “doing” a lot of religious things to work themselves to God.
